      This course is designed for students who have had limited or no prior preparation in art. The course content includes concentration in the major areas of critical analysis, creative expression and production, cultural heritage and aesthetic perception. Students will study principles and elements of two and three-dimensional design through drawing, printmaking, painting, ceramics, sculpture, commercial design and textile design. Major artists, periods and styles will be studied.

      This course is designed for advanced students who may be planning art-oriented careers. The course contains highly specialized units of study and is developed to meet individual student needs. Areas of study may include architectural design, advertising and graphic design, fashion, interior or product design, landscape architecture, urban planning, metalwork and jewelry, textiles, sculpture and painting, art restoration and art history.

ART APPRECIATION
 
      This course is designed to include the study of major art styles, vocabulary, the aesthetic quality of art, criteria for aesthetic judgment and major artists and works, past and present. The history and evolution of art forms and symbols and their relationships to other historical data are emphasized.

CHORUS
 
      This course is designed for students who have an expressed interest in singing in an ensemble and have shown, through a simple audition, an ability to read music at a fundamental level and to sing a tune on pitch. The course is organized so that students learn a variety of choral literature each year and improve their skills so that they learn to perform more easily, produce a good tone and accurate pitch, show growth in musicianship and music reading, develop an understanding of a wide variety of music, learn about the historical and cultural background of works performed and gain a greater appreciation of music as a means of expression and as a form of communication.

HONORS CHORUS
 
        Students enrolled in chorus participate in a performance and interview audition to be identified as gifted. In addition to regular choral assignments, identified students complete additional projects as determined by a committee of choral teachers.
