  CAREER & TECHNOLOGY
EDUCATION
 
     
       
     The mission of Career & Technology Education is to provide students the opportunities o acquire career competencies for the workplace and/or a foundation for career development through higher education. Career and Technology Education (CTE) is dedicated to helping all students realize their career objectives and achieve an optimum level of proficiency consistent with their interests, aptitudes, desires and abilities.

Business, Management, and Administration includes courses and career major programs, which serve the total school population through relevant curricula oriented toward providing career direction. These courses provide a sound foundation for the advanced study in business, administrative support, accounting, information processing, and human resource management and the development of employable skills. The business, marketing and computer technology courses are distributed among Business Management and Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Information Technology and Marketing, Sales and Services National Career Clusters. Careers in marketing, sales, and business areas will continue to grow because of the expanding demand for goods, information processing, and services. Keyboarding and computer skills are essential and are required for graduation.
 
     
 
KEYBOARDING
 
This course is designed to provide an opportunity for students to master the skill of entering alphabetic, numeric, and symbolic information on a keyboard and a ten-key pad using the touch method of key stroking.  Emphasis is placed on development of accuracy and speed, proper techniques, and correct fingering.  The student will develop skill in formatting letters, memoranda, reports, tables, and other business documents. This course may meet part of the computer science requirement for graduation.

INFORMATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
FOUNDATIONS
 

This course is designed to introduce the student to basic concepts in computer and information technology.  The areas of instruction covered include computer hardware, software, Internet, and network systems.  Upon successful completion of this course, a student should be able to successfully enter any one of the Information Technology Cluster majors.  This course will also prepare the student to take the IC³ Certification test.

BUSINESS COMPUTER
APPLICATONS I
 
Business Computer Applications 1 provides instruction in the use of software for database, spreadsheet, graphics, and word-processing applications in analyzing and solving business-related problems. As a part of the course, students will develop PowerPoint presentations for their portfolio. This course may meet part of the computer science requirement for graduation and is recommended especially for students who are not planning to major in Computer Technology Education.

e-COMMERCE
 
 This course covers topics such as business-to-business e-commerce, consumer e-commerce, the World Wide Web, and legal and ethical issues. The student will learn how to develop a business plan for an online business and actually design and implement an interactive WebPage incorporating entrepreneurial, marketing and advertising techniques along with an intelligent and efficient use pf graphics. Safety issues related to purchasing online will also be addressed.
